The Marion County High School Cheerleaders will be hosting a camp for children ages 4– 11 at the Marion County Middle/High School Gymnasium.
Register by this Thursday, March 8 to be guaranteed a t-shirt for the 4th Annual Cross Country Fundraiser 5K & Fun Run.

Marion County Schools’ NEW PARENT ACADEMY offers its first support session for parents. In this session the following will be discussed:
On August 30, 2017, motivational speaker Yvonne Harvey-Williams brought a message of strength, compassion, and motivation to the students of Marion County Middle/High School.
The year has kicked off successfully in 7th grade Language Arts at MCMHS. We are increasing our vocabulary with weekly lists and assessments. Students have taken their first benchmark assessment and will soon take their SRI to discover their most recent Lexile Reading level. We have traveled to the library and embarked on our yearly Reading Counts adventure. We are currently exploring the Hobbit by J.R. Tolkein and look forward to the adventures of the year.

TITLE I PARENT INVOLVEMENT MEETINGS ANNOUNCED FOR L.K. MOSS ELEMENTARY AND MCMHS
Under IDEA (The Individual with Disability Education Act), the Georgia Department of Education and the Local School Systems have a mission to locate, identify, and evaluate children in need of special education and/or related services.
The Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) requires that the school system provide information to private school administrators regarding the provision of equitable special education to parentally-placed private school students with disabilities.

In an effort to spotlight Marion County High School alumni from the years 1971-1975, the Marion County School System is seeking permanent donations of MCHS memorabilia from that era.
Summer Reading Assignments
On Thursday, May 4, two Marion County athletes signed letters of intent for college sports. D.J. Kelley and J.J. Fuller will go on to play football and baseball, respectively. Both young men are honor graduates of the Class of 2017 and both have represented their school and teams well during their high school careers.
According to her classmates, Zharia Williams has the best smile and most school spirit. According to her teachers, she is an amazing writer and solid academic student. Now, she is also a Page One runner-up in the area of English Literature.

Middle grades state testing will occur in April of this school year and all tests will be taken online.
After completing the Medieval England period of study, the Advanced Placement British Literature class enjoyed a respite from the normal school lunch.
Students in Mrs. Janovsky’s 8th grade reading class work to improve their writing. Students have been working on narrative.
On February 9th, Senior mentor Jesse Medlin and 5th grader, Luke Moxley, met for the first time when the L. K. Moss Elementary School 5th graders visited the Marion County High School to initiate the Marion Mentor RISE (Reflections Inspired by the Senior Experience) Program.

FCCLA Easter Egg Hunt
Marion County Middle/High School is pleased to announce incorporation of a “Student/Faculty/Staff Members of the Month”.
Marion County Middle/High School eighth grader Marisol Perez Jarquin placed 8th in the District Spelling Bee held on February 25, 2017, at Fort Valley State University.
We would like to congratulate Marion County High School's Literary Team for their success in the recent Regional Literary Meet at Georgia Southwestern State University.
The student organizations from Marion County Middle/High School spearheaded a disaster relief drive to “Stuff the Bus” for our south Georgia neighbors who had been hit hard by the recent tornados and bad weather.
After a lengthy search that began in October, the Marion County Board of Education has named Mr. Glenn Tidwell as the finalist for Superintendent of Marion County Schools.
Fifth grade students from LK Moss Elementary were paired with Marion County High School’s graduating seniors for the “Marion Mentors” project.
Due to a water leak in the county, school will start late this morning.

A reception with light refreshments will be held at 6:00 p. m. in the lunchroom. Then, join us for a patriotic program presented by the fourth grade class at 6:30 p. m.
