On November 22, Marion County High School Seniors participated in an “Apply to College Day.” November was “Apply to College Month” in Georgia, and MCHS Seniors celebrated by filing applications, starting their FAFSA, and listening to a “Reality Check” presentation.
Representatives from these organizations were on hand to assist with the event: Luke Ellis from Georgia Southwestern State University; Beth Wisham from South Georgia Technical College; Katie Minich from the Georgia Student Finance Commission; Christy Funderburke from Georgia Military College, Columbus Campus; Tominica Pines from South Georgia State College, Entry Program-GSW; SFC Ricardo Junco from the Georgia National Guard (presenter); Rees Walker, representing the Marion County Retired Teachers; and Glenn Tidwell, Marion County School Superintendent (presenter).
The event was planned by the Marion County High School Counseling Department and facilitated by Melissa Jernigan.
