5th Grade participates in STEM activity

Prior to Christmas break Mrs. Howard’s 5th grade Homeroom participated in a STEM activity based upon the book, The Tree That Was Meant To Be.  Students were able to identify personification used in the book, then were asked to create a tree from the materials provided.  Their tree only had to meet two criteria, stand on its own and be at least 6 inches tall.  Students worked cooperatively in groups of 3-5 people to create their trees and give them human traits such as eyes and a speech bubble to develop their tree’s personality.  The students were very creative and each group successfully completed the task.  Who knew learning could be so much fun!!
