Third, fourth, and fifth grade girls at L. K. Moss Elementary School have the opportunity to work with the non-profit organization Girls Who Code, (GWC), which aims to support and increase the number of women in computer science by equipping young women with the necessary computing skills to pursue 21st Century careers and opportunities.  GWC is headquartered in New York and founded by Reshma Saujani in 2012.  The organization works toward closing the gender employment difference in technology, and to change the image of what a programmer looks like. The organization is sponsored by a number of software and technology companies including AOL, Google, and Microsoft.  With the support of their sponsors, Girls Who Code is building the largest pipeline of future female engineers.  LKM has 46 girls to participate from grades 3-5.  They meet twice a month after school.  The GWC @ LKM program has two additional partners for this program  - Jessica Chapman with Booz Allen Hamilton in Warner Robins, GA and Jamie Cook, STEM Outreach & Workforce Coordinator in Middle GA.  The GWC@LKM facilitator is Mrs. Tracy Porter.
