Marisol chose Mrs. Dolly Hooks as her STAR teacher. “Mrs. Hooks is a perfect example of a great teacher,” Marisol said. “She is not only successful at teaching complicated concepts, but she is also always diplomatic and eager to help. I truly appreciate her consistent support and belief in me. This is how I hope to say thank you to Mrs. Hooks for being the teacher that the class of 2021 collectively needed.”

Mrs. Dolly Hooks has been teaching for twenty-nine years. Twenty-eight of those years have been at Marion County. She has taught honors Algebra I, Algebra II, college algebra, Georgia Southwestern University pre-calculus, and high school pre-calculus. Mrs. Hooks is also the Senior Beta Advisor. She holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from Georgia Southwestern State University, Middle and Secondary Math Certification from Georgia Southwestern and Columbus State University; Master’s in Secondary Math Education from Troy State University- Phenix City.

Mrs. Hooks was honored to be nominated by Marisol. “Marisol is an outstanding student who excels in all academic areas. As her math teacher for two years, I was amazed at how quickly she absorbed difficult concepts with very little guidance. It is a great honor to be nominated Star Teacher by such a high achieving student as Marisol Perez.”

The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program is sponsored, administered, and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) and the PAGE Foundation. High school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on S.A.T. and be in Top 10 percent or top 10 students based on grade point average to qualify for STAR Nomination.

Marion County wishes to congratulate Ms. Marisol Perez and Mrs. Dolly Hooks on this great honor!
