Four Marion County High School juniors were selected to participate in the Flint Energies EMPOWER Leadership Program, a rural regional youth program. Anaya Ansley, Ty Goodroe, Victoria Hudson, and Ella Jernigan will participate in leadership and teamwork activities throughout the school year. These students were chosen based on an application followed by an interview with the Flint Energies Community Connections Specialist and area leaders.

The students met with other EMPOWER participants from Crawford, Macon, Talbot, Taylor, and Schley Counties to learn about their individual personal strengths and how they affect their leadership styles.

Future endeavors for the group will include further leadership and team building, a tour of industry in nearby towns, and a trip to the State Capitol. Students will also take on local service projects in their home counties and schools.

This is the inaugural year for the program, and Marion County hopes to send at least five students next year from the Class of 2026. For details about the program, visit Empowering our Youth in Rural Georgia | Flint Energies.
