Marion County High School’s celebration of CTAE month included “Career Chats” with industry professionals. Each career technology class was provided with a guest speaker who was able to give insight into the career fields studied by the class.

·         For Basic Agriculture, our guest was Angela Love, HR Generalist with Interfor.

·         Horticulture’s guest speaker was Brandon Gross, Horticulture Instructor from South Georgia Technical College.

·         Ag Mechanics II hosted David Cox, Diesel Instructor from South Georgia Technical College.

·         Both sections of Food and Nutrition spoke with Chef Kenneth Ivory, Chef and Food and Beverage Executive, via Zoom.

·         Teaching I enjoyed Dr. Valerie Roberts from RESA.

·         Marketing I was visited by Jessica Simmons, Senior Manager for Digital Marketing and Sales, Cox Communications.

·         Marketing 3 hosted Shondria Golden, City Clerk for the City of Buena Vista.

·         Lee Marsh, Manager of System Planning for Flint Energies, spoke to the Engineering 1 and 2 class.

·         Bailey Carter, Marion Public Library Branch Manager, spoke with the Digital Media Class.

·         Carrollynn Heath, Nurse Anesthetist, addressed the Healthcare 3 class.

Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education is a cornerstone of the academic programs offered at MCHS.  CTAE Director Megan Scott and High School Counselor Melissa Jernigan are grateful for the input of the industry professionals who provide exposure to real-world careers!
