Valentine's Day is almost here, and the Marion County School System would like to make sure you are able to send gifts to students should you choose to do so. We will observe Valentine's Day for the school system on Wednesday, February 14th (as long as schools remain open at that time). We ask that all items be delivered to the Media Center at L.K. Moss and to the gym at MCMHS between the hours of 8 AM and 12 Noon on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Please be sure to label the item with the student's name and the teacher's name (PreK--8th grade: homeroom teacher / Grades 9-12: 4th block teacher). As usual, if your child or teen is a bus rider, balloons must be the small kind with a "stick". No large balloons or stuffed animals will be permitted on buses.
Congratulations to Cesaleigh Snider on her acceptance to Agnes Scott College with a scholarship worth $108,000!

We have been made aware of concerns regarding water usage at the schools. The following is in hopes of addressing those concerns.
On Tuesday afternoon, MCMHS experienced an interruption of water for an extended time. Today, L. K. Moss Elementary School experienced low pressure due to the county's preventative maintenance of flushing hydrants. Situations such as these call for the school district to implement its water safety plan in accordance with the Department of Public Health guidance. Faculty and staff took all precautions and provided commercially bottled water for hand washing along with alcohol-based hand sanitizer (at MCMHS). Only commercially bottled water was used for drinking water (provided to students by the school) as well as food preparation. When necessary, commercially manufactured ice was also used. These efforts were only part of our safety plan so as to have time to flush lines over a 24-hour period. Toilets were operable the entire time, and no student went without proper handwashing, food, drinking water or restroom use. As always, Marion County School District puts the safety and best interest of its students first!
