Multiple services are currently down due to a Microsoft authentication outage. Services requiring office 365 are inaccessible. We are aware of the situation and monitoring for response from Microsoft.

We are currently making plans for students in grades 10-12 (who did not opt to work from home for the first semester) to return to campus on Thursday, October 1. This is the most challenging group of students, as they are the most social both at and away from the school campus. Also, with students changing to various classes during the day, it is more difficult to map their contacts than it has been for our middle school students. For this reason, large groups may need to be quarantined if any student near them tests positive.
If there is a question about your child's health, please keep him/her home and contact the school immediately. We are extremely excited to have so many of our students back with us, and our ultimate goal is to keep them healthy and safe.

Our school system has identified its first COVID case, which occurred at the Middle/High School. This incident requires a small number of individuals to quarantine; parents of affected students have already been notified. Unfortunately, this will probably be our ongoing reality as we go through the next several weeks. Please assist us with our efforts by keeping children home when they are sick or have been exposed. Also, please notify the school of any COVID-related changes in your child’s health or environment. This will help us to manage individual situations successfully and to minimize the number of people who have to be quarantined.

It is extremely important to the success and future of Marion County and the City of Buena that have the most accurate census count possible. To date, we are at 35 % self-response which is not good and only you as an individual can change this number.
Let us improve our numbers by simply clicking on the link below and complete the necessary information to be counted. This is for our future.

Marion County School System officials are continuing to monitor the weather associated with Hurricane Sally. At this time, there are no expected school closings for Marion County schools. However, there are concerns regarding the unpaved roads throughout the county as the rain continues. As changes occur, updates will be made available as needed. Stay safe!

Update and Information Regarding School Openings in Marion County
This week, Marion County’s L.K. Moss Elementary welcomed back Pre-K students. Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade will start on September 9th. The remainder of L.K. Moss students (grades 3-5) will go back to school on September 14th.
Teachers and staff are excited to welcome back students and are encouraging safe hygiene practices. As long as the community spread in Marion County stays stable, grade levels at the Middle/High School will be able to return soon.
Normally, the school system has tried to give a week to a week and ½ notice prior to bringing back grade levels. At this point, grade levels will be added in more quickly. Please watch the website at www.marion.k12.ga.us for updates and information.

Just a Friendly Reminder....Today is packet pick-up and drop-off day. Lunches will be delivered, too. Have a Terrific Tuesday, LK Moss Family!

Dr. Medders will be offering a Zoom Meeting tonight at 6:30 pm for all Pre-Kindergarten PARENTS/GUARDIANS. Parents, please contact your child’s teacher for details on how to join!

Just a friendly reminder for those students who forgot to turn in work on Tuesday....we need student work packets! Buses will be picking up packets today, Thursday, August 27. Students...complete your work, and place it back in the zip lock bag or the folder that was provided. Meet the bus today so that your teacher can see how hard you have been working! :)

The September 1, 2020 work session of the Marion County Board of Education has been moved to Tuesday, September 22, 2020. The meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m. at Marion County Middle/High School, 1 Eagle Drive, Buena Vista, Georgia

Marion County Schools Reopening Plan
Beginning August 31, Marion County Schools will begin a phased reopening. This will begin with Pre-K and continue in steps through all grade levels. The reopening will serve students who originally planned to be face to face learners. Students who signed paperwork to remain at home will come back at the agreed-upon time.
Please note that a school environment is fluid, with rapid changes. The school alone cannot control community spread numbers, although we will do our best to keep students in our buildings safe.
These are the planned phase-in dates for Marion County students:
August 31: Pre-K
September 9: Grades K-2
All other students will be added based on improving conditions.
Certain IEP services will begin soon; you will be contacted individually.
Updates or changes to these dates will be provided via the newspaper and the Marion County Schools website (www.marion.k12.ga.us). As grade levels return for in-person learning, food delivery to those grade levels will be stopped.
As the school system gets ready to reopen your child’s grade level, please work with teachers to determine changes in transportation and contact information. The following safety rules will help us to reopen and stay open:
• Teach children to wash their hands thoroughly. Plan to provide personal hand sanitizer if possible.
• Check for fever each morning, and DO NOT send a sick child to school.
• If you, your child, or someone in your household has taken a COVID test, please keep your child at home until the test results are returned as negative.
• Find a face covering that is most comfortable for your child. Be sure to send it each day, as face coverings are STRONGLY encouraged on our campuses and REQUIRED on buses.
• Teach your child the importance of social distancing (no hugging, holding hands, or getting close to the faces of their friends and teachers).
• This website has safety information that will be helpful in our phase reopening: https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/805416/Marion_s_Plan_to_Reopen_7.17.20.pdf
Please remember that these dates may change. Visit the Marion County Schools website regularly for updates, or download our school system’s app.
Let’s all do our PART (Practice good hygiene, Apply social distance, Remember to wear your face covering when appropriate, Take your temperature) to help keep kids in school!
