Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians, I have just been informed today of a situation that has potentially exposed some of our lunchroom employees within the community to COVID-19. We will be working with the Georgia Department of Public Health over the upcoming days. Out of an abundance of caution, school will be delayed and a new start date projection should be announced later this week. As a result of this decision, all scheduled open houses will be cancelled and rescheduled at a later time. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding that we are keeping the safety of our students and employees as our first priority. Sincerely, Glenn Tidwell Superintendent, Marion County Schools

I realize you may have seen media coverage of actions the state school board may take regarding a setback to the opening date. I know this is a stressful time for all of us, made more difficult by uncertainty. As our local board receives information (which may be delayed in coming from the state), we will discuss at Tuesday’s local board meeting and give you all details as they become available.
